Hatred & Bitterness

by

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS will encounter many individuals (including co-workers and religious people) who have, for years, harbored hatred and bitterness in their hearts against others for various reasons. Check out what the Bible says about those issues:

  • But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! (Matthew 5:22 NKJV)
  • He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. (1John 2:9 NKJV)
  • Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. (Hebrews 12:15 NLT)
  • If someone says, "I love God," but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? (1John 4:20 NLT)
  • Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT)
  • ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.  You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:17-18(NKJV)
  • Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins. Proverbs 10:12(NKJV)
