As a law enforcement officer have you ever given someone a break by not arresting them or by not writing them a traffic ticket?  Take a look at what the bible says about compassion:

  • Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32(NIV)
  • Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Romans 12:17(NLT)
  • Instead, do what the Scriptures say: “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink, and they will be ashamed of what they have done to you.” Romans 12:20(NLT)
  • “Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12(NLT)
  • Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12(NIV)
  • But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, aithfulness,gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23(NIV)
  • Then this message came to Zechariah from the LORD: “This is what the LORD Almighty says: Judge fairly and honestly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.  Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and poor people. And do not make evil plans to harm each other. Zechariah 7:8-10(NLT)
  • God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9(NLT)
  • When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36(NIV)
  • God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you. 1 Peter 4:10(NLT)
  • They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. Galatians 2:10(NKJV)
  • Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15(NIV)
  • Finally, all of you should be of one mind, full of sympathy toward each other, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds. 1 Peter 3:8(NLT)
  • Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

  • For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. But even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.   • Now it is time to forgive him and comfort him. Otherwise he may become so discouraged that he won’t be able to recover. 2 Corinthians 2:7(NLT)
  • Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13(NKJV)
  • Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24(NKJV)
  • Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Mark 1:41(NIV)
  • A vast crowd was there as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he taught them many things. Mark 6:34(NLT)
  • Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4(NIV)
  • who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, Psalms 103:3-4(NIV)
