Law enforcement officers will handle many incidents involving parents and children. Check out the following biblical advice about parenting:

  • Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4(NIV)

  • Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Proverbs 1:8(NIV)

  • Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6(NIV)

  • Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9(NIV)

  • …children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. 2 Corinthians 12:14(NIV)

  • He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 1 Timothy 3:4(NIV)

  • It is better to be patient than powerful; it is better to have self-control than to conquer a city. Proverbs 16:32(NLT)

  • Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:4(NLT)

  • “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12(NIV)

  • However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:33(NIV)

  • These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. Titus 2:4-5(NLT)

  • The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother. Proverbs 29:15(NIV)

  • Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul. Proverbs 29:17(NIV)

  • As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; Psalms 103:13(NIV)

  • Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? Hebrews 12:7(NIV)
