Our Father in Heaven, our hearts are broken deeply as we mourn with the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol at the loss of Trooper Joseph Bullock shot in the line of duty who was performing the job of a peacemaker. Your word describes anyone who serves as a law enforcement officer as follow: “Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So, if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose.” Romans 13:1-5. So, Lord, we are son thankful that Trooper Bullock and millions of other law enforcement officers across America and the world are performing their duties as outlined in Your word to protect and serve their community and country. And as the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol are hurting, we ask You to pour out Your mercy, grace, love, Presence and compassion upon them at this sudden and tragic loss of a beloved friend and colleague. We especially lift up the family of Trooper Bullock before Your Throne of Grace. As we know they are brokenhearted, may You pour out Your love, mercy, comfort, grace, Presence and comfort upon their hearts, minds and spirits. As we know many tears have already been shed, we ask You to wrap Your comforting arms around them and carry them through this most difficult time of loss. May anyone hurting be comforted with Your words as follows: “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” We are thankful the suspect who caused this tragedy will not be able to harm anyone else as he took his own life. As we know this has deeply emotionally and spiritually affected many law enforcement officers and first responders at that scene who witnessed this tragedy firsthand, may Your grace touch their hearts and prevent them from enduring any short-term or long-term emotional trauma. And in the days to come as the Florida Highway Patrol begin the preparations for a final farewell to Trooper Bullock, may You use this service to point many unto the love and mercy of Your Son. May many know Your word says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  May You cause many to be drawn back unto Your side of those who have backslidden and may many hear the good news and receive Your son into their hearts. May You raise up chaplains and Godly officers to be a light to broken hearts in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
