O’ God, our hearts are broken once again at this senseless, on-duty murder of Officer Anthony Dia .  Our God of Mercy, the men and women of law enforcement in America need your continued touch and Presence in everything they do.  We, once again, find ourselves grieving with the men and women of Ohio law enforcement in this tragic loss of another one of Your servants.  O’ Lord, we ask for Your mercies to be abundant upon the Toledo Police Department as they must now cope with the loss of their dear friend and co-worker.  Lord, we ask Your Glorious Presence to me made ever so real to the countless Toledo law enforcement officers and their families as this loss has become so personal at this loss of Officer Dia.  May Your grace, Your presence and Your Holy Spirit surround his family as they are in shock and dismay at this senseless loss.  May every law enforcement officer across America and abroad remember to remain vigilant at all times.  May Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort and most of all Your Presence touch the hearts and minds of every member of the Toledo Police Department.  We are so thankful that the suspect will not be able to harm anyone else as he took his own life.  Continue to grant wisdom to the investigators to gather all of the facts.  As we know long-term emotional and spiritual trauma can result from incidents like these, we ask for Your abundant mercies to touch those law enforcement officers who have been so deeply affected and sustain them with Your loving kindness.  O’ Lord, we know there are so many broken hearts right now.  May You comfort many with Your words as follows, “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.” And, “Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.” Lord, we also know because YOU experienced loss and grief, you know how to comfort each person individually.  May Your Presence be made real to everyone’s heart and spirit.  Draw them close to Your Side and may many sense Your Love carrying them through this difficult time.  May you use this tragedy to cause many officers, family members and friends to search their hearts.  And if any are uncertain about their destination in eternity, may they know that You are the Author of Life, the Bread of Life and their Living Water.  May they be reminded that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  Draw all who need You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and may many receive You into their hearts and receive forgiveness of sin.  May You bring about good from this tragedy, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
