Our Mighty Lord, We come before You with hearts of gratitude and thanksgiving that the life of another one of Your peacemakers was spared by Your mercies. Lord, we lift up Detective Emmons before Your Throne of Grace Lord and ask for Your healing touch to continue to be upon him as he has already been treated at a hospital. May You reveal to his heart and mind Your amazing and unending love, grace, peace and comfort of Your Holy Spirit. May Your mercies also touch his family as they support and love him at this very emotional time. May Your grace additionally extend to the many co-workers and friends of this officer and uphold them with Your arms of love. We especially lift up the other detectives who were in the car when the shooting occurred.  Lord, we also ask You to give the investigators wisdom as they piece together the details of this incident in which a suspect later surrendered after a stand-off. May Your mercies and grace gently settle upon the hearts and minds of the men and women of the Salem Police Department and draw them ever so close to Your side for comfort. May they know Your word says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.“  May Your grace extend to the many other officers, firefighters and paramedics who responded to that scene and surround them with Your love as they came to the aid of an wounded comrade. May Your grace additionally settle upon the family of the suspect and other victims as they cope with incident. May Your word as follow strengthen every law enforcement officer, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” May Your Holy Spirit reveal the Love of Your Son to the many who were present at that scene. And if Detective Emmons or any other officer does not know You personally, may Your Holy Spirit draw them unto Your side where they may have an opportunity to receive Your Son as they Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
