Our Merciful Father in Heaven, these attacks on this Las Cruces police officer and San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy are examples of the dangers peace officers across the continental United States face every day as they perform their duties as law enforcement officers. We, therefore, come boldly before Your Throne of Grace, o; God, and life these two peacemakers into Your loving arms. As the Las Cruces officer has a broken leg and the San Diego deputy has multiple injuries, we ask You, Lord, to continue to grant the medical doctors treating these servants with Your wisdom, insight and mercy to treat and restore these servants to full health. May both of these peacemakers intimately and deeply sense Your sweet presence in their hearts and minds that You are with them right now. May they know Your love, grace, peace, mercy, presence and most of all Your comfort from Above. As we know the families of these peace officers are at the sides of their loved ones and have been affected as well, may they, too, know Your word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” As the suspect in New Mexico is being sought, grant the investigators wisdom to track down and arrest the suspect peacefully. And as this attack on the San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy is being investigated, may Your hands of protection continue to be upon every other sheriff’s deputy in San Diego and across America and protect them from any potential copycat attack. May these inmates who injured this deputy face appropriate justice. And for the suspects in these incidents, may You raise up other Christians to share the love of Jesus, sin and salvation with these perpetrators and may they come to know Your Son as their savior. And as these injured peace officers recover, may they examine their hearts and be drawn to Your Son, Jesus Christ, and come to know him in a real and personal way. As we know traumatic events like these can cause short term and/or long term emotional trauma, may Your mercy and grace prevent them from enduring any emotional trauma. As the men and women of the Las Cruces Police Department and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department have been, likewise, emotionally and spiritually affected, may Your words bring comfort to those in need as follows, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
