Our Father in Heaven, we come with boldness and humility to seek Your mercies and grace to descend upon Macon County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Petty who was shot in the back and leg. O Lord, we are so ever grateful to You for sparing his life. As we do not know the full extent of his injuries, may Your presence be made known to his heart and mind and may You draw him ever so close to Your side. As the news reports indicate he was airlifted to a hospital and is being treated. May You fill the medical staff with wisdom and grace to continue to render the correct treatment and bring about a full recovery. May Your amazing grace and Your Presence also be with the family of Sergeant Petty who nearly experienced the loss of their loved one and hold them tightly in Your Mighty Arms. May Your grace touch the many other law enforcement officers who were involved in this incident and may each sense the presence of Your grace and peace in their hearts. May You give the investigators wisdom and insight to gather all the facts. Most importantly, we are thankful the suspect is no longer a threat as he lost his life in an exchange of gunfire. As many law enforcement officers at that scene have been affected emotionally, mentally and spiritually, may You use this life-threatening incident to speak to the hearts of every law enforcement officer who was at that scene and cause them to look inwardly at their hearts and souls. May many know Your word says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Finally, If any deputy does not know you or if any deputy is in a backslidden state, may they hear the sweet voice of Your Holy Spirit calling them that now is the day of salvation. May every law enforcement officer know Your Word says, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” May You raise up chaplains and other Godly law enforcement officers to be a light to each of them and point them to the love of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. May Your love reign supreme in their hearts, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
