Our Merciful Lord, we again come in great earnest before Your Throne of Grace to lift up a seriously wounded/stabbed Butler Police Officer. As the news reports this officer was stabbed multiple times during a struggle with a suspect whom he ultimately shot, we ask You, Lord, to grant the medical staff with continued natural and supernatural wisdom as he has already undergone surgery. May they be guided by Your Holy Spirit in the treatment of his wounds and may they bring about a full recovery. As we know this officer’s family is at his side loving and supporting him at this very emotional time, we ask for the sweet comfort of Your Holy Spirit to settle upon their hearts and minds and bring them Your peace that passes all understanding to settle upon their hearts and souls. As the family, friends and co-workers are rallying at his side, may they know Your word says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” And as You said, “I will never leave your nor forsake you”, may those in need place their hearts and trust into Your Hands. May Your grace, mercy, peace, presence, comfort and love touch this officer’s family members and especially the men and women of the Butler Police Department who are at his side right now. We also seek Your divine mercy and grace to touch this wounded officer’s co-workers who responded to witness that horrific aftermath. May You remind these officers to know they are God’s servants for good according to Your Word. Lord, we join with the Butler Police Force and entire law enforcement community in Pennsylvania and lift them into Your Hands of love and mercy as protect their citizens. May those officers and family members who were especially close to this injured officer know Your Word says to, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” So Lord, as we lay our hurts and sorrows at Your feet, may Your Holy Spirit guard our hearts and minds at all times. May Your amazing grace be made real to this wounded officer. And if he does not know Your love, may You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be a representative of Your love and may He and many others know the everlasting life found only in Your Son, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
