Our Father in Heaven, the pain is ever so great today in our hearts. We especially seek Your unfailing love and mercies upon the men and women of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and Bradley Police Department at the tragic loss of Wayne County Deputy Sean Riley and Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic. We first want to lift unto your Throne of Grace Officer Tyler J. Bailey who was critically wounded. O’ God, spare his life and bring about healing. So, Lord, we continue to come boldly before Your Throne of Grace and place him into Your Care and Love. As we know this officer is in pain—physically, emotionally and spiritually, may Your grace and peace settle upon his heart and mind. May You grant the doctors wisdom to effectively treat this wounded officer and restore him to full health. As we know this attack has hit the Bradley Police and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department members especially hard, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly officers to be a support and help them at this very emotional time. We are grateful the suspect has been arrested in the death of Deputy Riley. As the suspect, Darius D. Sullivan, who shot the Bradley officers is on the loose, we ask You, Lord, to provide the investigators wisdom to locate and arrest him. If this suspect tries to harm any other officers, may You cause his weapon to malfunction. May You cause him to be fatigued, confused and guilt-ridden. May he be located and swiftly arrested. We especially lift up the families of these law enforcement officers and place them into Your loving Arms. May they be deeply and intimately filled with Your amazing grace and compassionate love as You carry them through this very difficult time and may Your Holy Spirit be made real in everyone’s heart. Lord, we need Your grace more than anything to be upon the entire Bradley Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. May Your unending mercies, unfailing love and peace provide supernatural strength to them at this time of loss. Lord, we also want to lift up the small army of law enforcement officers and countless paramedics, firefighters and other first responders who were at that scene who had to witness the tragedy upon those with whom they worked so closely. May You encamp Your angels around them and supernaturally sustain them with Your peace, mercy and grace. Grant the investigators wisdom as they piece together the facts of these incident and may future similar incidents be prevented. Finally Lord, may You continue to provide wisdom to law enforcement officers across America and the world to remember their training and always use sound tactics. May Your Holy Spirit gently settle upon the entire Bradley Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and allied agencies and strengthen them with Your Holy Spirit. May You protect the heart, mind and spirit of every member and draw them unto Your Son for strength at this loss of a dear friend and co-worker. May Your comfort many with Your word as follow, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” May Your love reign supreme and may many law enforcement officers come to receive Your Son into their heart as their Savior and Lord who will carry them through difficult days. As difficult as this loss is, may Your Words as follow comfort many who are hurting: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” And, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” And as the Bradley Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department will be having to make preparations for a final farewell for their fallen co-workers, may You be magnified center stage at this service. O’ Lord, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly officers to be a representative of Your Light. May You bring about good through this difficult incident. May every officer know they are God’s Servant for Good. May they forever be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might and always put on the whole armor of God, In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
