Our Father in Heaven,  We come with hearts of praise and gratitude unto You Lord to thank You for sparing the life of Officer Sherrod Stuart .  As the news reports Officer Stuart was shot in the ankle, we ask You to grant the medical doctors wisdom and insight in order to diagnose his injuries and provide for a full and complete recovery.  More importantly, Lord, we ask for Your amazing grace to settle upon Officer Stuarts heart and mind as he will likely replay this life-threatening event over and over in his minds in the days to come.  May Your grace and your presence touch the many other New York City police officers who were present during and just after their co-worker was wounded as we know they can be emotionally affected just as much as their wounded co-worker.  May Your peace that passes all understanding touch the family of Officer Stuart as they rally around their loved one from this near death experience.  Lord, may You use this near tragedy to draw the many New York City police officers unto Your side to intimately experience the joy provided by Your Son.  May your mercies also settle upon this suspect and may You raise up someone to share the love of Jesus with him so that he may have eternal life.  And if Officer Stuart or any other co-workers or family members do not know Your love and forgiveness, may Your Holy Spirit cause them to examine their hearts and draw them to the Love of Your Son.  May many come to receive You as their Savior and Lord.  Most importantly, may Officer Stuart and many co-workers know Your word says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
