Our Gracious Lord, we know that whenever someone tries to harm a law enforcement officer, it is because they are rebelling against the laws You established long ago.  Lord, we, therefore, come with boldness and urgency before Your Throne of Grace to lift up Officer Tim Jones into Your Mighty Arms as he fights for his life.  As the news reports indicate his wounds are critical, we know only You are the only One who we can ask for help.  May Your healing rest be upon his heart, mind and physical body as he is fighting for his life.  Lord, place Your healing hands upon him.  May You grant the doctors and medical staff supernatural wisdom and insight to apply the correct treatment and fully heal him.  May Your grace extend to the many friends and co-workers of Officer Jones and draw them all so very close to Your side.  May You especially touch Officer Jones family as they go through this extremely difficult time.  We ask for Your love, grace, mercy, comfort and peace that passes all understanding to settle upon the entire Park Forest Police Department as they rally around their injured comrade.  Lord, we are thankful other officers were able to protect themselves by returning fire and neutralizing this suspect.  May Your grace and peace touch the mind of this wounded officer and the other officers who were at that scene who, we know, for months or years, may have to replay this life-threatening scenario over and over in their minds.  Lord, because of this, we ask for Your grace, peace and mercies to settle upon their minds and prevent them from enduring any long-term emotional trauma.  Grant the families of these officers with wisdom to support them through any difficult days they may have ahead of them.  May the detective be drawn ever so close to Your side and sense Your sweet presence in his time of need.  May He come to know Your endless love and grace in a very real and personal way.  May Your grace especially be with his co-workers who may be struggling spiritually and emotionally with this near-death experience.  May Your endless love be made real in their lives.  And if Officer Jones does not know You personally, may You raise up someone to tell him about Your love and forgiveness, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
