Our Gracious Lord, we are thankful for sparing the life of Officer Turner with the Durham Police Department and ask for your healing touch to continue to be upon his physical body.  We also thank You that he has already been treated and released.  May your grace sustain this deputy in his heart, soul and mind due to his near death encounter as it is obvious this officer erred when he failed to find a loaded gun on this suspect.  Lord, may your grace and mercies settle upon the men and women of the Durham Police Department as they are come to grips with nearly losing a friend and colleague.  May you also be with Officer Turner’s family and uphold them with your love, grace, peace and mercies as they cope with this near tragedy.  Lord, we are so grateful for your protecting hand to have been upon all of the officers who were inside the jail. May You use this incident as a training aid across America for every law enforcement to be certain to conduct a thorough search of every suspect.   And, Lord, as a result of this near death encounter, if there are any officers or family members who do not have a personal relationship with your Son, may your Holy Spirit draw them to His side and may many come to know Him as their Savior and Lord and receive eternal life in Christ.  May they know when someone becomes a Christian; he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!  This we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
