Our Gracious Lord, as countless law enforcement officers across America intimately know what the pain is like to lose a co-worker while on-duty, we therefore lift up the men and women of the San Jose Police Department before Your Throne of Grace as they mourn the loss of a Motorcycle Officer Michael Katherman. O’ Lord, we ask You to wrap Your Arms of Love around every member of the San Jose Police Department as they are in deep sorrow and grieving ever so greatly at this terrible loss.  May Your peace, love, grace, mercy and everlasting comfort touch their hearts, minds and souls as they endure this tragic loss.  As we know there were a number of officers and first responders who had to endure witnessing the aftermath of collision scene first-hand, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon them as they had to endure this tragedy up close.  And as Officer Katherman’s family is in shock and mourning ever so greatly, we ask Your Amazing Grace to be made ever so real in their hearts and draw them ever so close unto Your Son to be comforted by His loving presence.  As we know there is an emptiness in the hearts of so many right now, may they be comforted with Your words as follows, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.  So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”  So Lord, as the San Jose Police Department must now begin the process to say farewell to their fallen comrade, may You use that as an opportunity to draw many unto the love of Your Son in whom there is forgiveness and everlasting life.  And if any co-workers may have strayed from Your Path, may they be drawn back unto Your Side.  Finally, may many hear this good news for the first time that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
