Our Father in Heaven, We come before you today, Lord, to lift up the men and women of the Sterlington Police Department who are grieving the death of their co-worker and friend, Sgt. David Elahi. May your peace and grace touch their hearts and minds and may Your Holy Spirit draw them so very close to your side where there is abundant mercies to carry them through this difficult time.  We also lift up Sgt. Elahi’s family who are similarly mourning and grieving at this tragic loss especially since he would have been retiring in a few weeks.  We also lift up the two other Sterlington officers who were injured in that same collision and seek your healing touch upon their hearts and minds. May You grant the medical doctors wisdom to diagnose and effectively treat their injuries and bring about a full recovery. May your hands of love and mercy tightly wrap around their family members as they cope with this tragedy that has affected so many lives.  May the entire Sterlington Police Department and every family member come to intimately know that You will always be their Rock, Fortress and Deliverer—that You will always be their God and their Rock in whom they can always take refuge. May they know that as they call to You in their distress, You will always hear them.  Lord, we lift up every law enforcement officer across  America in the world as they are constantly in harms ways.  May Your grace protect the from drunk drivers and other road hazards at all times. O’ Lord,  we seek Your Grace to uphold the family and friends of Sgt. Elahi.  And as they will be preparing a final farewell service, may You use this as an opportunity for many to hear Your Good News and ultimately receive You into their hearts as their Savior and Lord, this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
