Our Merciful God, we come humbly into Your presence to lift up our brothers in Texas who are again faced with the loss of another member of law enforcement.  Even on the day the Dallas Police Department is eulogizing their fallen comrades, the Bellaire Police Department must endure this tragic loss of one of their own who was chasing shoplifters.  As this officer’s family is just coming to grips with this very untimely loss, we know they are in deep distress and sorrow.  We therefore place them into Your loving arms and ask You to pour out Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort upon them as they rely on You to carry them through this very dark valley.  May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to investigate the cause of this collision.  As we know there were a number of officers and first responders who had to endure witnessing the aftermath of that collision scene, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon them as they had to endure this tragedy up close.  Most importantly, may your word dwell richly in their heart and the hearts of every family member as follows, “  I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth…” So Lord, as the Bellaire Police Department must now begin the process to say farewell to their fallen comrade just as Dallas is doing, may You use that as an opportunity to draw many unto the love of Your Son in whom there is forgiveness and everlasting life.  And if any co-workers may have strayed from Your Path, may they be drawn back unto Your Side.  Finally, may many hear Your good news for the first time as follows, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  Grant many an opportunity to receive You as Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
