Our Gracious Lord, when this officer went to work today, he, his family and co-workers had no idea of the life changing trauma that would forever affect his life.  We therefore come boldly into Your Presence Lord to lift up this Alabama Corrections Officer who sustained a serious stab wound to his head caused by an inmate.  May You grant the medical professionals with supernatural wisdom to be able to diagnose his injuries and restore him to complete health.  We ask for Your grace, mercy, peace, presence and comfort to be with this injured officer.  May he sense Your amazing grace and Your presence with him right now even as he may be sedated.   And as his family is at his side supporting him through this difficult time of uncertainty, may Your grace be made ever so real to them.  We also ask for Your Presence and grace to touch the men and women of the Alabama Department of Corrections as they cope with the near loss of a dear friend and co-worker.  As we know incidents like these can cause deep, emotional scars, we know You are an amazing God, full of grace and rich in mercy.  May You also grant the investigators wisdom and insight to be able to gather all of the facts surrounding this traumatic incident.  May every officer and family member come to intimately know Your Word says, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”  May many Alabama Corrections officers and family members be drawn to the peace that passes all understanding which can be found in Your Son.  And if this injured officer does not personally know You, may Your Holy Spirit speak to his heart and draw him unot Your Side, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
