Our Gracious Lord, as countless law enforcement officers across America reflect today on the tragic 9/11 loss of hundreds of firefighters and law enforcement officers, we join with the men and women of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department in mourning the on-duty traffic fatality of Master Deputy Brandon Collins from this past evening.  O’ Lord, we ask You to wrap Your Arms of Love around the men and women of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department as they are in deep sorrow and grieving ever so greatly at this terrible loss.  May Your peace, love, grace, mercy and everlasting comfort touch their hearts, minds and souls as they endure this sudden and tragic loss.  May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the details of this collision.  As we know there were likely a handful of deputies and first responders who had to endure witnessing the collision scene first-hand, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon them as they had to endure this tragedy up close.  And as the family is in shock and mourning at the loss of a husband and father, we ask Your Amazing Grace to be made ever so real in their hearts and draw them ever so close to Your Son to be comforted by his loving presence.  As we know there is an emptiness in the hearts of many right now, may they be comforted with Your words that says, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.  So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”  So Lord, as the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department must now begin the process to prepare a final farewell to their fallen comrade, may You use that as an opportunity to draw many unto the love of Your Son in whom there is forgiveness and everlasting life.  And if any co-workers may have strayed from Your Path, may they be drawn back unto Your Side.  We also lift up this driver who caused the collision and ask Your Holy Spirit to convict his heart and draw him unto You.  Finally, may many hear the good news for the first time that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
