Our Father of Mercy, we lift up the men and women of the Ohio State Highway Patrol as they mourn the loss of their dear friend and co-worker, Trooper Kenneth Velez, from this on-duty traffic collision. May your arms of comfort and hands of mercy be upon each of them to carry them through this difficult time of loss. May your grace, love, peace, mercy and kindness especially settle upon Trooper Velez’ family as they must endure this tragic loss. May every trooper, co-worker, friend and family member know that they can place their trust in you during this difficult time and You will carry them through this time of loss. May those greatly mourning know that even when they pass through “deep waters”, may they know You will be with them. And when they experience fiery trials like this, may they know You will be with them every step of the way for Your word says that the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted. Lord, may your grace continue to be made known to those hurting ever so greatly. May your mighty arms of love sustain the entire Ohio State Highway Patrol especially in the coming days as they must now begin to prepare their final farewell for Trooper Velez. And Lord, as we know all things work together for good, to those who love You and are called according to Your purpose, may many be drawn to You for comfort and may many have an opportunity to know that true peace and comfort can only be found in Your Son. May You raise up chaplains and Godly troopers to share the love of Your Son and may many have an opportunity to come into a first-time personal relationship with Him. May anyone who has backslidden be drawn back to You.  This we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
