Our Gracious Lord,  Your word says that, “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”  So Lord, we come with deep hearts of gratitude before Your Throne of Grace to thank you for sparing the life of Detective Patrick Wiseman, who was wounded in the leg while doing his job as a peacemaker.  We are ever so grateful for Your hands of grace and mercy to have been upon him.  May You grant the doctor’s wisdom and insight to treat his wound and restore him to full health.  May Your peace and comfort especially touch his family as they come to grips with the near loss of their loved one.  Lord, as we are so thankful for the job performed by this North Carolina law enforcement officer, we also want to corporately lift up the other law enforcement officers who were at that scene when this near-death encounter unfolded.  We are so thankful for those at that scene who willingly placed themselves in harm’s to protect the citizens of their community.  Lord, we ask for Your endless mercies to continue to be shed upon this wounded Deputy.  And if he does not know You personally, we ask for Your Holy Spirit to draw him ever so close to Your side and reveal to Him how much You love Him through Your Son.  May Your grace and peace additionally touch the men and women of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department and allied agencies as we know incidents like this can cause stress and strain on many co-workers.  May You use this, Lord, to draw many law enforcement officers who were at that scene ever so close to you for Your word says that now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation.  May many officers come to personally know you as their Savior and Lord.  And for the family of the person who committed suicide, may Your grace and mercies touch their lives and may his passing draw many close to You.  Grant the investigators wisdom and insight to gather all of the facts in this incident.  May Your Holy Spirit go forth and begin a brand new work in not only the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department but in the hearts of the many other law enforcement officers and their families as well.  May they all know that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
