Our Merciful Lord, our hearts are broken as we grieve with the men and women of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department in this tragic accidental death of one of their own deputies who was shot while on-duty.  We come with needy hearts and broken spirits before Your Throne of Grace as we seek Your Presence and comfort upon the deputies who were involved in that tragic accident.  May You you’re your arms of love and grace around those deputies who were present when this accident occurred.  And if it was caused by another deputy, we know that deputy is extremely distraught and filled with grief and remorse.  So Lord, we ask You to pour our Your love and awesome presence upon the hearts of this deputy.  May he hear Your words that says to cast all your cares upon the Lord for he cares for you.  May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to determine the facts surrounding this accidental shooting.  May You use this as a training aid for law enforcement officers across America.  Finally Lord, wrap Your arms of Love around the family of this fallen deputy who never imagined they’d lose their loved one in this manner.  May You draw all family members ever so close to Your Side where they may intimately know Your peace that passes all understanding.  Finally Lord, because Your word says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”,  may You take this tragedy and bring about greatness within the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.  May You use this to draw them closer together in the bonds of love.  And as they must now prepare a final farewell to this deputy, may You use this to point many unto the Love and Forgiveness of Your Son,  in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
