Our Father in Heaven, we thank You for the privilege of prayer and thank You that we can bring all of cares before out wonderful Throne of Grace.  We are so thankful to You, Lord, for sparing the life of this Sanibel Police Officer.  As we continue lift up this wounded officer into Your Presence, we thank You that he has already been treated and released from the hospital and ask for Your comfort and grace to continue to sustain him as he is at home recuperating.  As the news reports indicate the suspect has been apprehended, may You grant the investigators wisdom as they piece together all of the facts surrounding this attack.  We especially lift up the family members of this wounded officer and ask You for Your love, grace, peace and comfort to be with them especially as we near this holiday season.  Lord, we ask you to lift up the small, close-knit, Sanibel Police Department as they rally around to support their injured colleague and his family.  As we know traumatic incidents like this can cause short-term or long-term emotional trauma, may Your grace spare them from enduring any such effects.  And more than anything, may Your grace, peace, mercy and unending love gently touch the many other police family members affected by this near tragedy.  May You use this near-death experience as an opportunity to cause many officers and others to examine their hearts and may Your Holy Spirit draw then ever so close to Your son in whom there is grace, peace and comfort.  May many also come to know Him as their personal Savior and Lord.  Pour out Your Hands of Protection upon all law enforcement officers across America, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
