Law Enforcement officers may find that some violent crimes have been prompted by someone's desire for revenge. It may also be a force in which a law enforcement officer might have to deal with--personally. Checkout what the Bible says about that:

  • Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.  Romans 12:19(NLT)
  • “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.   Matthew 5:38-38 (ESV)
  • Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it. 1 Peter 3:9(NLT)
  • Do not say, “I’ll do to him as he has done to me; I’ll pay that man back for what he did.”  Proverbs 24:29(NIV)
  • Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.  1 Thessalonians 5:15(NIV)
  • “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.  Leviticus 19:18(NIV)
