Sexual Temptation

A Law Enforcement Officer can be exposed to various forms of sexual temptations both on and off duty.  Check out what the bible has to say:

  • Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18(NIV)
  • Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4(NIV)
  • “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food”—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 1 Corinthians 6:13(NIV)
  • Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2(NIV)
  • But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28(NKJV)
  • No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13(NIV)
  • It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5(NIV)
  • In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:11-14(NIV)
  • The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; Galatians 5:19(NIV)
  • When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. James 1:13-14(NIV)
  • Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Colossians 3:5(NIV)
  • And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2(NKJV)
  • Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 Corinthians 7:1(NIV)
  • But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14(NKJV)
  • For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:10(NIV)
  • Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10(NIV)
  • May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love. Proverbs 5:18-19(NIV)
  • You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell. Acts 15:29(NIV)
  • But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. Proverbs 6:32(NIV)
  • For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16(NKJV)
  • But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 1 Corinthians 7:2(NIV)
