Anger/Disrespect

As a Christian law enforcement officer, have you ever been angry, upset or felt disrespected because of a decision/comment by a co-worker or supervisor?  Or have you ever felt belittled because a citizen or suspect embarrassed you to the point where you wanted nothing but revenge?  Check out what the bible says about this, click here:

  • Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:17-19(NIV)
  • Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9(NIV)
  • And don’t say, “Now I can pay them back for what they’ve done to me! I’ll get even with them!” Proverbs 24:29(NLT)
  • “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:18(NLT)
  • See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. 1 Thessalonians 5:15(NLT)
  • But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:25(NLT)
  • He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. 1 Peter 2:23(NLT)
  • Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked. Proverbs 25:26(NIV)
