Pride vs. Humility
Randy Emon

As a law enforcement officer, have you, or have you ever heard someone brag or boast about a particular accomplishment or embellish how a certain goal was achieved?  Did you know the bible addresses those issues?  Check this out:

  • Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give. Proverbs 25:14(NIV)
  • These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want. Jude 1:16(NLT)
  • Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1(NKJV)
  • This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23-24(NIV)
  • “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1(NIV)
  • …God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble; Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:6, 10(NIV)
  • Do not lie to each other…Colossians 3:9 (NIV)
  • Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galatians 6:7(NIV)
