Galatians 6:14(NIV)
Paul, next to Christ Himself, was the most dedicated man to living and preaching the life changing message of the Cross. Paul went from a place of great knowledge in the scriptures and powerful positions in the religious community to being nothing and nobody for the sake of Christ and His Cross. After his conversion, Paul had one desire and goal, to go wherever and do whatever needed to be done to ensure that all people heard the message of salvation by believing that Jesus is indeed the Christ and we are justified and saved by faith in Christ alone.
Before Christ Paul was a very religious man. Paul had incredible knowledge of the scriptures and lived a life of strict adherence to the law. This is what drove Paul to persecute anyone following and believing the message of this Jesus. Yet Paul lacked the thing that most important. Though Paul had great knowledge of God, Paul had no “relationship” with God. That’s what made Paul such a radical after encountering Christ. Paul’s “head knowledge” turned into a relationship with Christ and a message that had to be preach to all men. Paul cared nothing for Himself. His only desire was to preach Christ and the message of salvation so all who heard could repent and receive this great gift by faith.
Paul cared nothing about personal glory. He wanted no glory from man, position or power. Paul’s only desire was for Christ to be lifted up and glorified. Paul wanted nothing to do with the world or the things of the world. Paul wanted Christ and nothing else. Pauls entire existence was to be a messenger and Ambassador for Jesus Christ. Paul was willing to give his life for the One who gave His life for Paul. No one clinging to the world and things of the world can say or do that. May we be men and women who strive daily to crucify any worldly passions and desires and live for one purpose alone; to preach the amazing life changing and life saving message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
