Our Father in Heaven, Because You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and our ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to lift up the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department as they are in deep mourning in the loss of a dear friend and co-worker.  O’ Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of every deputy.  May your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and Your Presence especially be with his family as they endure this great loss.  As the news reports indicate the suspect was wounded, may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this tragic incident.  As the members of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department will now have to prepare to say a final farewell to their friend and co-worker, may the power of your Holy Spirit settle upon each deputy and grant them strength in their hearts, minds and spirits.  May the love and Jesus be made real to each of them.  May every deputy, family member and friend intimately know that no matter what, you will never leave them nor forsake those who love you and have received you into their hearts.  May they know that You do not want anyone to perish but to come to repentance in You alone.  May many be drawn to the Cross of Christ where there is endless mercy and grace.  May your comfort settle upon every member of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department and family member.  Hold them so very close to your heart.  May You raise up chaplains and other Christian officers to bring comfort to all.  May You bring about good through this tragic loss of life; this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
