Our Father of Mercy, it is with deeps hearts of thanks that we come before Your Throne of Grace to thank You for sparing the life of a one of Your servants who was wounded while training at the range. We are also so thankful that he was quickly transported to a local trauma center where he is reported to have non-life threatening injuries. Lord, we also lift up the medical staff treating him and ask You to bestow upon the medical staff wisdom and insight to be able to identify his injuries and apply the correct treatment to bring about a full recovery. As we know this near death encounter has affected countless members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, we ask for Your Holy Spirit to touch their hearts, minds and spirits and may they sense Your sweet presence and comfort at all times. We especially want to lift the family of this wounded deputy into Your Loving Arms as they had to endure this life-threatening ordeal with their loved one. May this wounded deputy, his family and countless co-workers intimately know You will always be our Rock, Fortress and deliverer and an ever-present help in times of trouble. May any co-worker who was present when this shooting occurred know You will never leave us nor forsake us and that we can cast all of cares upon You because You care for us. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts surrounding this training scenario and may You use this as a training aid for many others in the future. We are again so thankful that the life of our co-worker was spared. May Your Holy Spirit speak to the heart of this wounded deputy and if he does not know You personally, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly deputies to be a light to him and draw him ever so close to Your Side. May He know Your word says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” In the name of Jesus Christ we Pray, Amen.
