Our Precious Heavenly Father, Our hearts are heavy, our minds are dreary, and our souls feel empty at this tragic loss of our dear friend and co-worker and the tragic wounding of another friend and co-worker.  Lord, it is to YOUR grace and mercies we seek to carry us through these difficult days ahead.  We ask you to be ever so close to the family of this deputy who gave his life that others may live.  Your word tells us that, “greater love has no man than this, than he lay down his life for his friend.”  And for that, Lord, we are deeply humbled and grateful for our fallen brother.  May you be ever so close to his wife and children who are deeply mourning and grieving at the loss of their dad and husband.  May your grace touch every member of his family and hold them up with your arms of love.  Lord, may your grace, love, peace and mercy extend to every member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as they come to grips with this loss of someone whom they’ve worked side by side with so many times.  May you fill this void with memories that will last a lifetime.  May your hands of mercy especially touch every deputy, supervisor, manager, secretary, volunteer, dispatcher and allied law enforcement officers.  May your peace that passes all understanding sweetly settle on their hearts and minds and grant them supernatural strength to carry them through.  Hold their hearts, minds and souls tightly in the grasp of your hand and may they forever sense Your sweet presence carrying them on.  Thank you Lord for every law enforcement officer who was involved in this incident from beginning to end.  May each of them know YOU love them.  And if there are any law enforcement officers, family members or co-workers who are unsure of who You are, may Your grace settle on their hearts so that they may clearly see how much You love them.  May many come to know You in a real and personal way.  This we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Friend and Savior, Amen.
