Our Father in Heaven, we come with hearts of thanksgiving before Your Throne of Grace as someone again has tried to kill one of Your peacemakers, this time in Compton.  Lord, as there is an evil atmosphere that seems to be affecting law enforcement officers across the U.S., we know it is only by Your mercies and divine intervention that the violence will begin to subside.  We, therefore, lift up these two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies who were fired upon on a traffic stop—one of the most dangerous tasks that officers face.  As the news reports indicate one deputy sustained injuries and was later released, we ask for Your awesome power to descend upon this deputy and bring about an amazing healing not only to his body, but most importantly his mind and spirit.  May Your grace and comfort especially touch the family of this wounded deputy who have likely been emotionally traumatized at the near loss of their loved one.  May Your amazing grace touch the family and both of these deputies where they may deeply sense Your Presence carrying them through this emotional incident.  May Your Presence encamp around the men and women of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as they love, care and support their injured friend, co-worker and family.  Grant the investigators wisdom and they piece together the details of this shooting.  May Your love also be revealed to the family of the suspect who lost his life.  O’ Lord, touch the heart and mind of this wounded deputy and his partner and may Your loving kindness and presence be made real in their heart and soul.  And if these deputies do not know You in a real and personal way, may You draw them to Your Side where they may be able to confess their sins and invite You into their heart to receive eternal life.  May many come to know Your love.  May You raise up multiple prayer warriors for law enforcement officers in Compton and throughout Los Angeles County and bring about peace.  May You remove those evil ones who are causing and stirring trouble and bring about Godly peace and joy.  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
