Our Merciful Lord, We come together with the men and women of the Newport Police Department as they are in deep mourning at this on-duty murder of one of their co-workers, Lt. Patrick Weatherford.  As it appears a suspect has not been arrested, we ask that You would grant the state investigators wisdom as they try to sole this heinous and senseless murder upon one of Your Servants.  Lord, we seek Your peace and grace to settle upon the entire department and especially those who were involved in that initial incident. May You sustain them with Your Mighty Arms of Love as they cope with the loss of their dear friend and co-worker.  May your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort touch the many law enforcement officers who were at that scene who had to witness this tragic loss which will forever be upon their hearts and minds the rest of their lives.   We especially lift up the family of Lt. Weatherford as we know they are grieving deeply in this loss. May Your Holy Spirit draw them ever so close to Your side.  May your grace, peace and mercy settle upon the entire Newport Police Department and allied agencies and give the investigators wisdom and discernment to gather all of the facts surrounding this deadly incident to bring a suspect to justice. May You raise up witnesses and citizens to aid investigators in locating and arresting a suspect.  May your protecting hand encircle them and keep their minds and hearts secure in your love.  May Your Amazing Grace protect and preserve them from enduring any of the long term emotional effects incidents like these can cause.   May the love of Jesus be revealed to the men and women of this small, close knit Newport Police Department and may many come to personally know HIS love.  May your peace that passes all understanding guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  May the family and members of the Newport Police Department intimately know that he who dwells in the shelter of the Most High shall rest in the Shadow of the Almighty.  May You raise up chaplains and other Godly law enforcement officers to share Your peace and love with those hurting.  We thank You that You are our King of Kings, our living Water, our Friend and our Bread of Life. May You provide an opportunity for many to receive You as Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
