O’ God, Your word says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends”; or in this case a complete stranger. We come boldly and humbly before Your Throne of Grace as we lift up the men and women of the New York State Police in this tragic on-duty murder of one of Your peacemakers.  We also lift up the entire New York law enforcement community who has lost a second law enforcement officer in a week. As the family members of this trooper are just being notified, we know the tremendous pain and grief that they will be experiencing as they learn of this tragic and senseless loss of their loved one.  So Lord, as we know there are some extremely heavy and burdened hearts right now, we seek Your Amazing Grace to encompass every family members with Your arms of Love and Comfort.  We also know that the many co-workers of this Trooper are brokenhearted as they are just coming to grips at this horrific tragedy and seek Your peace, grace, comfort and Presence to descend upon them as they mourn this loss..  We ask You, Lord, to grant the investigators supernatural wisdom to gather all of the facts surrounding this incident.  We are so thankful the suspect has been arrested so that no one else will be harmed.  Nonetheless, we lift up the men and women of the New York State Police and ask you to pour out Your grace, peace and comfort upon their hearts, minds and spirits as we know there is a deep emptiness in their hearts at this sudden loss.  May Your words as follows bring comfort to many, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” And, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”  So Lord, may every trooper and family member intimately come to know Your Grace as You carry them through this difficult time of loss.  And as they will be preparing a final farewell to their fallen comrade, may You use this time to draw many unto the love of Jesus who can comfort them through this terrible loss.  May many also come to know Your forgiveness and eternal life, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
