Our Father in Heaven, hear our prayer, O’ Lord, as we lift up the men and women of the Wayzata Police Department in this tragic death of their friend and co-worker, Officer William Mathews.  At times like this Lord, it is only YOU to whom we can turn for comfort.  May Your unfailing love sweetly settle upon the family of Officer Mathews as they are mourning this tragic loss.  Lord, in the midst of this most difficult time for the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Mathews, may Your unending grace, love, peace, presence and comfort be made evident in their hearts and minds.  Lord, we ask for Your Arms of Love and Mercy to tightly hold Officer Mathews  family ever so close to Your side.  Even in the middle of this tragedy, may You bring about good to everyone through Your Amazing Grace, goodness and mercy.  May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together all of the details in this collision.  May Your mercies also sustain the family of the other driver who caused this collision.  As the Wayzata Police Department must now begin the difficult process to prepare a final farewell to Officer Mathews , may You use this time to draw many co-workers and others ever so close to the Cross of Christ.  May Your Holy Spirit, even now, begin to touch the hearts of so many.  May You raise up chaplains and other Christian law enforcement officers to minister to those hurting in their hearts.  And so Lord, may the God of Hope fill every officer, friend and family member with all Joy and Peace because of the everlasting gift of eternal life found only in Your Son.  This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
