Lord Jesus, the pain is ever so great and our hearts are broken at this tragic on-duty murder of a New Orleans Police Officer.  O’ Lord, as the suspect escaped but was later caught, we ask You to place Your hands upon the officers who were at that scene who witnessed this heinous attack on their lives. Lord, May Your Word  bring comfort t to those hurting as follows, “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help.  From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.“  O’ Lord, we need Your divine intervention and power of Your Holy Spirit to carry the men and women of the New Orleans Police Department through this loss of a dear friend and comrade.  May You fill every law enforcement officer with Your Strength and Grace to carry them through this very emotional time.  May You be a refuge to every officer.  Lord, as we know the family of this officer is just learning of this tragedy, we know there are countless broken hearts right now and it is Only Your Holy Spirit that can bring them peace in the middle of this storm.  O’ Lord, we call upon You on behalf of the New Orleans Police Department and seek Your amazing grace on their hearts and souls. Your word says, “Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.”  So Lord, we trust in Your unfailing love.  Surround every member of the New Orleans Police Department with Your love and grace to carry them through this very difficult time of loss.  In the coming weeks as they will be saying a final farewell to their fallen friend, may Your Holy Spirit bring comfort and a peace that passes all understanding.  May many officers re-examine their hearts and may Your Son be revealed to many where they may receive Jesus into their hearts for the forgiveness of sins and receive eternal life.  May they know Your word says, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.”  In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
