Praying for a wounded officer with the California Highway Patrol

Our Merciful Lord, we seek Your amazing grace to descend upon another one of Your peacemakers—a California Highway Patrol Officer, wounded in the line of duty.  Thank You, Lord, for sparing his life and thank YOU that a suspect is in custody.  Thank you hearing our prayer as follows, “Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”  As the news report the officer was shot in the leg, may Your love grace, mercy, comfort and unending love settle upon his heart and mind and draw him ever so close to Your side.  Grant the doctor’s wisdom to quickly assess and treat his wound and bring about a full recovery. May you especially be with his family as they come to grips with this near-tragedy.  As the news reports indicate several citizens were shot and died, may you grant the investigators wisdom to piece together the facts surrounding this deadly incident.  Most importantly, Lord, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon the men and women of the California Highway Patrol as they come to grips with this attack upon one of their colleagues.  May Your angels continually encamp around every California Highway Patrol  across the state and continue to keep them safe from all harm and danger.  May You draw this wounded officer ever so close to Your side and if he does not know You, may he know Your word says that, “Now is the day of salvation.” May Your peace, grace and comfort especially touch this wounded officer’s family as they are likely at his side supporting him through this very emotional time.  Most importantly Lord, may every California Highway Patrol officer and those from allied agencies sense Your awesome power and grace carrying them through the days ahead.  May Your protecting hand continue to be upon every law enforcement officer across America. May every officer know Your word says, “He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
