Our Merciful and Gracious Father, We lift before your Throne of Grace a Charleston Police Officer who was wounded during a robbery.  As the news reports he was shot in his vest, we are so thankful for your protecting hand to have been upon him and for sparing his life.  We are also so grateful to You, Lord, that no other officers were injured.  As this wounded officer was likely in pain and is being treated at a hospital, may your healing touch continue to be upon him and restore him to full health.  May You grant the medical professional’s wisdom to continue to render any treatment to him as needed and bring about a full recovery. Lord, we also want to lift up the family of this wounded officer and all of the other officers who were involved in this incident into Your Gracious Presence.  May they each intimately know Your Presence, love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort.  As we know the officers who were at that scene are dealing with the emotional realities of this deadly incident, we ask for your grace, mercy, peace and love settle upon their hearts and minds.  May You grant the investigators supernatural wisdom and insight to gather the facts in which several were wounded.   May your peace that passes all understanding sustain the officers involved in that incident.  Finally Lord, may your Holy Spirit settle upon the minds of every officer with the Charleston Police Department.  May your grace preserve them emotionally and spiritually and keep them from enduring any future emotional trauma that can result from these highly stressful incidents.  May the love of Jesus Christ be revealed to every officer and family member.   May they know that Jesus said, “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” May they know, that although they may have just walked through the valley of the shadow of death, You will forever be with them—for we know You will never leave us nor forsake us.  May many Charleston officers have an opportunity to know Your amazing grace and forgiveness and may many receive You into their hearts as their Savior and Lord, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
