Our Merciful Lord, On this Thanksgiving Day holiday, we truly are thankful to You, O’ Lord, for sparing the life of Deputy Benjamin Gieselman and several other deputies who were fired upon in an apparent ambush attempt.  We are so thankful the suspect was stopped in this horrific attack upon Your servants.  Most importantly Lord, as Deputy Gieselman is being treated at a hospital, may your healing touch continue to be upon him and restore him to full health.  May You continue to grant the medical professionals wisdom to continue to render any treatment to him as needed and bring about a full recovery. We also want to lift up the family of Deputy Gieselman into Your Presence and ask that You would pour out Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort upon their hearts and minds as they replay this near-death encounter over and over in their minds.  We also want to lift up the other deputies who were fired upon as they, too, endured deep emotional trauma at this near death encounter.    May these deputies intimately sense the presence of Your Holy Spirit upon their lives as they re-live this trauma over in their minds. May You grant the investigators supernatural wisdom and insight to gather the facts and may this be used as a training aid for law enforcement officers across America.  Finally Lord, may your Holy Spirit settle upon the hearts and minds of every member of the Hays Country (Sheriff’s Department.  May your grace preserve them emotionally and spiritually and keep them from enduring any future emotional trauma that can result from these highly stressful incidents.  May the love of Jesus Christ be revealed to every deputy, co-worker and family member.   May they know that Jesus said, “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” May they know, that although they may have just walked through the valley of the shadow of death, You will forever be with them—for we know You will never leave us nor forsake us.  May many Hays County deputies have an opportunity to know Your amazing grace and forgiveness and may many receive You into their hearts as their Savior and Lord, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
