Our Merciful Lord, for the second time today, we again come urgently before Your Throne of Grace to lift up Sergeant John Breda who was stabbed on-duty during the apprehension of a suspect.  As the news reports he is in critical condition and has undergone blood transfusions, we ask You, Lord, to grant the medical staff treating him with supernatural wisdom.  May they be guided by Your Holy Spirit in their treatment of Sgt. Breda to bring about a full recovery.  As we know Sgt. Breda’s family is at his side loving and supporting him at this very emotional time, we ask for the sweet comfort of Your Holy Spirit to settle upon their hearts and minds and bring them Your peace that passes all understanding.  As the family, friends and co-workers are rallying at this side, may they know Your word says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”  And as You said, “I will never leave your nor forsake you”, we place our hearts and trust in Your Hands.  May Your grace, mercy, peace, presence, comfort and love touch Sgt. Breda’s family members and especially the men and women of the New South Wales Police who are at his side right now.  As two other officers had to use deadly force to stop the suspect who died, may these officer know the they are God’s servants for good according to Your Word.  Lord, we join with the New South Wales Police Force and entire law enforcement community in Australia and lift them into Your Hands of love and mercy.   May those officer and family members who were especially close to Sgt. Breda know Your Word says to, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  So Lord, as we lay our hurts and sorrows at Your feet, may Your Holy Spirit guard our hearts and minds at all times.  May Your amazing grace be made real to Sgt. Breda.  And if he does not know Your love, may You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be a representative of Your love and may He and many others know the everlasting life available only in Your Son, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
