Praying for the Oglala Sioux
(SD) Tribal police in the on-duty murder of an officer

O’ God, in just this past week, this is the fifth law enforcement officer
murdered in the line of duty. Again, Lord, our hearts are cannot break much
more at these attacks upon Your servants who swore an oath to uphold
justice. Our Merciful Lord, we come with broken hearts before Your Throne of
Grace to lift up the men and women of the Oglala Sioux Tribal police as they
are grieving this tragic murder of one of their own officers. As the details
of this incident are sketchy, we ask You to grant the F.B.I. investigators
with supernatural wisdom and insight in order to investigate this death and
bring those to justice responsible for the murder of Your servant. We
especially want to lift up the family of this fallen officer into Your
Presence as we know they are in deep mourning over the loss of their loved
one. As we know countless Americans have been hit hard with the loss of Your
Peacemakers, and the loss of another servant is just too much to bear.
Nonetheless, Your word is the only comfort with which we can rely upon as
follows: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father
of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so
that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the
comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” And, “Come to me, all
who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon
you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” O’
Lord, grant peace and rest for those who are in deep sorrow and mourning
ever so greatly. As the Oglala Sioux Tribal police will have the task to
prepare a final farewell for their colleague in the coming week, may You
raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be Light to many. May You use this
tragedy to point many law enforcement officers and family members to the
Cross of Your Son, Jesus, who is the Author of Life. May many know Your Son
in the Way, the Truth and the Life and may many know the eternal life found
only in Him, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
