Our Father in Heaven, hear our prayer, O’ Lord, as we lift up the men and women of the Hickman Police Department in this tragic death of their friend and co-worker, Officer Rodney Smith. At times like this Lord, it is only YOU to whom we can turn for comfort. May Your unfailing love sweetly settle upon Officer Smith’s family as they are mourning this tragic loss. Lord, in the midst of this most difficult time for the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Smith, may Your unending grace be made evident in their hearts and minds. Lord, we ask for Your Arms of Love and Mercy to tightly hold Officer Smith’s family ever so close to Your side. Even in the middle of this tragedy, may You bring about good to everyone through Your Amazing Grace, goodness and mercy. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together all of the details in this tragic accident. As the Hickman Police Department must now begin the difficult process to prepare to say a final farewell to Officer Smith, may You use this time to draw many co-workers and others ever so close to the Cross of Christ. May Your Holy Spirit, even now, begin to touch the hearts of so many. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian law enforcement officers to minister to those hurting in their hearts. Most importantly Lord, may the God of Hope fill every officer, friend and family member with all Joy and Peace because of the everlasting gift of eternal life found only in Your Son. May You use this final farewell service to point many law enforcement officers unto Your Son in whom there is forgiveness of sin and everlasting life.
