Our Merciful Lord, for the second time today, we again join, this time, with
the New York City Fire Department in mourning the on-duty fatality of
Firefighter Michael Davidson. Our hearts are broken as we, in the law
enforcement community, mourn this tragic loss of one of our brothers who
also serve the people of the United States. As the family of Firefighter
Davidson are grieving and mourning ever so greatly, may Your Amazing grace
touch them as You carry them through this extremely difficult time. We also
come before Your Throne of Grace to lift up two other New York City
firefighters who were also seriously injured in this fire. As they are being
treated at a local hospital, we ask You to grant the doctors with
supernatural wisdom and insight to diagnose their injuries and apply the
correct treatment to bring about a full recovery. May they intimately know
Your love, grace, person mercy and comfort as You carry them through this
time of loss. And as the families and co-workers of the two injured
firefighters are rallying around them at the hospital, may Your Holy Spirit
surround them with Your Grace and Presence as we know they are deeply
concerned for their colleagues. O’ God, as this tragedy has hit the men and
women of the New York City Fire Department ever so greatly, we ask you to
raise up Godly firefighters, chaplains and friends to bring hope and comfort
to those who are so deeply hurt and broken. May Your Word as follows bring
comfort to the hearts of so many in need of a touch from the Master’s hand,
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
And, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” So, Lord,
continue to wrap Your loving Arms of comfort around those in need of Your
Touch. And as the New York City Fire Department must begin to prepare a
final farewell to their fallen brother, may You draw many ever so close to
Your Side where they may sense Your love and Your Presence. May you use this
final service to point many unto the love of Jesus in whom there is
forgiveness of sin, in the name of Jesus we Pray, Amen.
