Our Merciful Lord, for the second time this week, we come before Your Throne of Grace to thank you for sparing another law enforcement officer in Alberta, Canada—this time a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer. O’ Lord, as the news report the officer was shot when he engaged the suspect who died, we are so thankful for Your hands of protection to have been upon this officer. AS he was airlifted to a hospital, we ask You to continue to grant the doctors wisdom and insight to diagnose his wound and restore him to full health. And as this officer’s family is at his side, may this wounded officer and his family intimately know Your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and presence is carrying them through this near-death encounter. May Your words as follow bring comfort to their hearts, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.” May Your grace also touch the family of the suspect who lost his life. May Your wisdom and insight also descend upon the investigators as they gather all of the facts surrounding this deadly encounter. Finally, Lord, as we know this attack has affected the men and women of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and many other allied law enforcement officers, may Your love, grace and mercy settle upon them to know You love them and will never leave them or forsake them. In the coming weeks as this wounded servant recovers, may Your hands of love and grace carry him through any emotional ups and downs brought on by this near-death incident. May You continue to draw your wounded servant ever so close to Your side where he can intimately know Your presence and grace, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
