Our Merciful Lord, once again, it is Your amazing grace we see in action as You continue to protect Your peacemakers across America. Thank you for the power of Your word, “Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” As the news reports indicate that even though this Harnett County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot in the face and chest, he is in stable condition at a local hospital. As we know it could have been much more serious had it not been because of Your amazing grace, we lift up this wounded deputy into Your Arms and ask You to pour out Your grace on his heart and mind as he comes to grips with this near-death encounter. May Your love, peace, mercy, comfort and unending love settle upon his heart and mind and draw him ever so close to Your side. May you especially be with his family as they come to grips with this near-tragedy. As there is a manhunt underway for a 16-year-old suspect, may You protect every law enforcement officer involved in the search. Grant them wisdom to locate and arrest this suspect without any further harm. May You cause this suspect to be confused and may You prevent him from using his weapon to harm any more peace officers. May You cause his weapon to mis-fire or malfunction if he tries to use it. Most importantly, Lord, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon the men and women of the Harnett County Sheriff’s Department as they come to grips with this attempted murder upon one of their colleagues. As this deputy comes to grips with this near-death encounter, may Your grace sustain him and prevent him from enduring any emotional trauma. May Your angels and Your mercies continue to touch the men and women of the Harnett County Sheriff’s Department and keep them safe from all harm and danger. Lastly, may You draw this wounded deputy ever so close to Your side and if he does not know You, may he know that Now is the day of salvation. May Your protecting hand continue to be upon every law enforcement officer in North Carolina and across America. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
