Praying for critically wounded
Santa Fe (TX) High School Officer Scott Barnes

Our Father in Heaven, the dangers and need for the presence of a law
enforcement officer on campuses to protect students came to the forefront
again when Officer Scott Barnes was critically wounded trying to save lives
of students. We are so thankful his partner was able to fire at the suspect
who then surrendered. So, Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come Boldly
before Your Throne of Grace to lift up Officer Barnes as he continues to
recover at a hospital. May You, Lord, continue to pour out Your mercy and
grace upon him and guide the medical doctors to monitor his progress and
adjust any treatments as needed to bring about a full recovery. As this
deadly incident caused by one student has affected all of America, remove
the scales from the eyes of every American of their need to receive You as
their Savior and Lord. Lord, the only solution to evil in this world is your
divine return. So, we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Nonetheless, as we go about
our daily activities in all parts of America, we lift up the families of
those who lost someone in yet another senseless school shooting. May many
grieving and mourning know Your Word as follows, “Who shall separate us from
the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake
we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved
us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height
nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom. 8:37-39. Finally
Lord, we lift up the family of Officer Barnes into Your arms of love. May
Your love, grace, mercy, presence and comfort continually uplift them as
they wait upon Your continued healing power. Pour out Your mercies upon the
countless law enforcement families in Texas and abroad and may good be
brought about through this tragedy, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
