Our Father in Heaven, Because You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and our ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to lift up the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department as they are in deep mourning in the loss of a dear friend and co-worker murdered in the line of duty. O’ Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of every member of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department. May your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and Your Presence especially be with the family of this fallen deputy as they endure this great loss. As the news reports indicate the suspect is on the run, may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this tragic incident as they engage in a massive manhunt for this suspect. May you grant them wisdom and insight to know where to search and quickly and safely take this suspect into custody to meet justice. As this suspect is on the run, may you cause his mind to be confused and full of guilt. May You raise up citizens to spot the suspect and report his location to law enforcement. And if this suspect tries to harm anyone else, my You cause his weapons to malfunction or misfire. And as the members of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department will now have to make preparations to say a final farewell to their friend and co-worker, may the power of your Holy Spirit settle upon each deputy and grant them strength in their hearts, minds and spirits. May the love and Jesus be made real to each of them. May every deputy, family member and friend intimately know that no matter what, you will never leave them nor forsake those who love you and have received you into their hearts. May they know that You do not want anyone to perish but to come to repentance in You alone. May many be drawn to the Cross of Christ where there is endless mercy and grace. May your comfort settle upon every member of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department and family member. Hold them so very close to your heart. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian officers to bring comfort to all. May You bring about good through this tragic loss of life; this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
