Our Father in Heaven, Our hearts are broken as we grieve with the men and women of the Washington Park Police Department in this tragic on-duty fatality of Officer Ricardo Davis. O Lord, we ask for Your supernatural presence to be made known in the hearts of the men and women of the Washington Park Police Department as they sense a tremendous emptiness in their souls. May You be their Rock, that Fortress and an ever-present help to them as they endure this tragic loss of a peacemaker just doing his job serving his community. Lord, we especially ask you to touch the family members of Officer Davis who are also in deep mourning from this tragic and sudden loss of their loved one. May You surround them with Your sweet presence and may they know they can lean on You for You intimately care for them. May they know Your word says, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” May You grant an extra measure of grace and comfort to the many individuals who were involved in rescuing and treating Officer Davis. May You take this tragedy, by Your grace and mercies, Lord, and turn this into a blessing in the hearts of so many. May the memory of Officer Davis be treasured forever and may You use this as an opportunity to draw many friends, family members and members of the Washington Park Police Department ever so close to Your side for You said, “Never would You leave us and Never would You forsake us.” May You, Lord, grant the investigators wisdom as they try to determine the facts in this deadly incident. Lastly, in the days to come, as preparations will be made to say farewell to Officer Davis, may You use this as an opportunity for the love of Your Son to be shared with many. May many friends, family members and co-workers be drawn unto the love and comfort of Jesus and may many come to receive Him into their hearts as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
