Praying for the Philadelphia (MS) Police Department in the on-duty fatality of Officer Leann Simpson

November 24, 2018
2:15 PM pst

O’ Lord, this Thanksgiving week, our hearts are broken as we come earnestly before You seeking Your grace and mercy as we lift up the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department who are grieving the loss of their dear friend and co-worker, Officer Leann Simpson. Lord, no matter how much tragedy and devastation law enforcement officers may see every day, there is just no way to prepare for the loss of a colleague. So Lord, we ask for the sweet presence of Your Holy Spirit to encircle the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department and draw them ever so close to Your side. May your grace and mercies touch the officers and paramedics who initially responded and treat Officer Simpson as this traumatic incident will forever be etched into their minds. Lord, we ask for an outpouring of Your unending love and peace to especially be upon Officer Simpson's family as they are in deep mourning at this unexpected and tragic loss on this Thanksgiving week-end. And as members of the Philadelphia Police Department must now prepare to say a final farewell to their friend and co-worker, may Your Holy Spirit be present at every step of these funeral preparations. Even in the midst of this tragedy, we ask that You would use this accident to bring glory to Your name and draw many unto Your side. May every officer, family member and friend be given an opportunity to hear the clear presentation of the Gospel and be drawn unto Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. May Your word bring comfort to many as follows, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Finally, may those who truly hunger and thirst for righteousness be satisfied. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
