Our Father of Mercy, it is with a deep sadness that we come before Your Throne of Grace to lift up the men and women of the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department as they grieve and mourn the loss of Sergeant Matthew Moreno from a horrific on-duty collision. We also want to lift Deputy Kenny Lopez and Deputy Trent Gomez before Your Throne of Grace and seek Your healing touch to be upon them as they are treated at a hospital. And as two other lives were lost in this horrific collison, may Your grace and mercies touch those family members so deeply affected. O' God, as so many law enforcement officers have been hurt this past weekm, surround every law enforcement officer with Your Protecting Arms especially during this Christmas season as we know these losses and injuries have deeply affected so many friends, family members and co-workers. May Your mercy, comfort, love, peace and presence touch the families of these fallen/injured law enforcement officers and sustain them with Your amazing grace. May Your love, grace, prace, mercy, presence and comfort especially surround the family of Sgt. Moreno.  And as countless members of the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department are in shock and mourning ever so greatly at this loss, may Your Holy Spirit speak to their hearts to know Your word as follows, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.” O’ God, May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain those in need. We lift all who are deeply grieving and mourning into Your Arms of Love. As the men and women of the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department will begin to make preparations for a final farewell service for Sgt. Moreno, may You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to bring hope and grace at this difficult time. And in the weeks to come may many be drawn unto the love of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life and peace. May many receive Jesus as their savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
