Our Father in Heaven, We come into Your Presence to lift up a Barberton
Police SWAT officer before Your Throne of Grace who was wounded in the line
of duty. Lord, we are so grateful to You for Your amazing grace and mercies
to have been upon this officer and for sparing his life. As the news reports
indicate he suffered a non-life-threatening wound, we ask You to continue to
grant the doctor’s wisdom to diagnose and treat him and restore this deputy
to full health as he is undergoing surgery. As this officer comes to grips
with this near-death experience, may Your peace and comfort touch his heart
and mind and draw him ever so close to Your side. May Your grace, mercies,
peace and love touch the many other law enforcement officers who were
present or responded to this scene as we know this can be just as
emotionally traumatizing to them as well. May every law enforcement officer
be comforted with Your Word as follows, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong
and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord
your God is with you wherever you go.” May Your love, mercy and peace also
be with this wounded officer’s family and comfort them with Your grace and
Your presence. As we know the suspect was killed in this incident, we ask
for Your mercies to also be upon his family as they must cope with this
loss. May Your grace touch the many medical workers and first responders who
rendered aid to both the wounded officer and suspect as we know they, too,
can be emotionally and spiritually challenged through this incident. Lord,
as we know traumatic confrontations like this can cause emotional trauma to
many who were present and even those who were not, we ask for Your mercies
to be upon them and draw them close to Your side where they may find comfort
and grace. May anyone know Your word says, “Don’t worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all
he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we
can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.” And if this wounded officer or any other law enforcement
officer does not know You personally, may You draw them to Your Son by Your
Holy Spirit where they may receive Him as their Savior and Lord, in the name
of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
